How Does HIPEC treatment works?.
Before patient starts getting HIPEC treatment, a cytoreductive surgery is done to remove the visible tumors within the abdomen. Once the tumors are removed, HIPEC treatment is given to the patient.
During HIPEC treatment, surgeon will continuously circulate a heated sterile solution – containing chemotherapeutic agent throughout the peritoneal cavity. The solution is 41 to 42 degrees Celsius.
